Would You Buy Secondhand Gym Kit? š«
We were having a laugh at the gym this week about something that definitely got us thinkingāwould you wear someone elseās sweaty gym kit? Okay, okay, I know what you're thinking: āGross!ā But letās be real, weāre obviously talking about washed gym clothes here! š Still, it sparked a proper debate, and I wanted to share my thoughts because, letās face it, good quality gym gear doesnāt come cheap!
Now, Iāll admit itāI love Lululemon more than any other brand. I know, I know, I try not to get sucked into all the branding hype, but thereās something about the fit of their leggings. They donāt budge, feel like a second skin, and most importantly, for us lifters out thereātheyāre squat proof! (Trust me, that claim gets thrown around way too often by brands that simply donāt deliver.) The only downside? They cost a small fortune. Ā£85 -100+ for leggings? Excuse me, what? š³
š« Enter: Pre-loved Gym Kit
This is where my love for secondhand comes in. Iām a huge fan of pre-loved gym gear! Honestly, you can find some real gems out there. Sure, thereās the risk of fakes floating around on the resale sites (ugh, donāt even get me startedāthatās a whole other post), but if youāre savvy, you can snag great quality gear for a fraction of the price.
When I mentioned this to the girls at my local CrossFit Box, the vote was pretty much split. Some love the idea, while others wouldnāt dream of it. I get itāthereās definitely a personal preference element here. But if it means getting high-quality, durable gym clothes for less, and keeping them out of landfills, Iām all in.
So, what about you? Would you buy secondhand gym kit, or is it a hard pass? Let me know your thoughts because this is one conversation that I think we could all learn something from.
Catch you in the next post!
Love,
