Forget Flattering – Here’s How to Find Jeans You Love Wearing

🪡 Wear What You Want – Not What Trends Tell You
Let’s ditch the idea that we have to follow trends. Whether it’s wide leg, balloon leg, skinny, or vintage Levi’s, jeans should make you feel good. Not just look good for someone else.

The real key? Dress for yourself, not for “flattering.” We've spent too long considering how we look to others, its time to dress for ourselves.

🛍️ Sustainability Tip: Try Before You Buy
While I’m a huge fan of second-hand everything (and we’ll get to that!), sometimes the best way to shop consciously is to buy once and buy well.

That is especially true when it comes to buying jeans so here’s your green light to head into a shop, take at least 2 sizes of each style you like (trust me on this) into the changing room, and treat it like a little window-shopping self-care mission. Honestly, who doesn’t love a browse with a coffee in hand?

Trying before you buy reduces returns which often don't even make it back onto sale but head to straight to landfill, plus it saves money because who hasn't forgotten to return that item and ended up buying clothes that we don't even want!

🥇 My Top Pick: M&S Wide-Leg Jeans
I haven’t personally tried them (yet!), but the M&S wide leg jeans are getting glowing reviews. They come in different leg lengths — so helpful if you’re around 5ft 3 like me — though be careful with the “short” ones. Ideally, your jeans should just skim the floor in your chosen shoes.

✅ Multiple washes
✅ Good price at £35
✅ Not too wide – great for easing in

🚫 Why I’m Not Recommending “Sustainable Denim Brands”
Here’s the thing: yes, there are brilliant sustainable denim brands out there. But most cost upwards of £100 a pair, which just isn’t accessible to everyone - and honestly, for jeans you haven’t tried on? Risky business. Most online jean purchases end up being returned. That’s wasteful for you, your time, and the planet.

So unless you can try them on in person — and you’re ready to invest — I’d rather guide you to something that feels more realistic.

💡 Real-Life Jean Buying Advice
Try multiple pairs, even in the same size.

Denim fits vary by wash, colour, and style.

Dark washes run snugger.

Don't size up too quickly – denim will stretch.

Home test them first: wear around the house (tags on!), do some lunges. If they pass the comfort test? Keeper!

🧺 Denim Care 101
Cold wash only

No fabric softener – it can leave white marks and break down any stretch.

Air dry when possible. Trust me.

👀 Don’t Sleep on This Collab
The M&S x Sienna Miller jeans are back in stock after selling out in a flash. The balloon leg cut is super comfortable and I think here to stay, dare I say, becoming a new classic. Some are even down to £25 online.

🛒 Final Word: Second-Hand Always Wins (But Do Your Homework)
If you can find these pre-loved — amazing! Buying second-hand keeps clothing out of landfill and gives jeans (which are water and resource intensive to produce) a longer life. Use platforms like Vinted, eBay, or Depop — just make sure you know your sizing first.

It all comes back to this: buy better, wear longer, feel amazing doing it.
